ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

Excellence Foundation South Sudan is a South Sudan-based independent, duly registered non-governmental and nonprofit national organization. The primary mission of the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan is to build capacity and provide services to the people of the country.

In September 2021, a group of educated, dynamic, and like-minded youth working in various sectors came together to form an organization to address South Sudan's most urgent and pressing needs. In keeping with this spirit, the organization was dubbed the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan.

Given their involvement in the development sector, the group is aware of the country's numerous problems. As a result, the organization's focus will not be limited in terms of geography or sector. Excellence Foundation for South Sudan will carry out a variety of interventions in the areas of education, health and hygiene, youth and women empowerment, emergency response and preparedness, safety, mentorship, human rights, and so on.

The organization's activities range from capacity building to service delivery, with a focus on the deprived and marginalized segments of society.

In terms of operations, what distinguishes the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan's functioning are its efforts to:

WHAT WE DO

CHILD PROTECTION AND EDUCATION

Excellence Foundation for South Sudan's theme of holistic child development includes confidence building programs, competitions, awareness campaigns for child rights education and protection, developing safe learning places for children, promoting leadership skills in children groups, and initiating education support initiatives that focus on supporting teacher and learner development to invest in leaders of tomorrow and create a better future for the nation, continent, and the world.

HEALTH, NUTRITION AND WASH

The thematic area of community health and hygiene includes establishing health centers in remote areas, raising awareness about HIV prevention, reproductive health, life skills, and sexual rights, developing immunization programs for venereal diseases and epidemics, and organizing public health events with the government and partners. The focus is also on improving and sustaining access to community-managed WASH services to reduce suffering, morbidity, and death related to WASH-related diseases and ailments.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The Women Empowerment theme focuses on promoting women's leadership in democratic norms and culture in the operational area through capacity building and engaging with government and other stakeholders for their constitutional, legal, social, economic, and political rights. It also involves working with state institutions to create an environment that guarantees women citizens' rights, enhancing their income generation skills through capacity building and micro-credit.

MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY

Media and Information Literacy is the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively obtain, critically evaluate, and ethically use information across all types of resources, including oral, print, and digital, in a world that is increasingly digital and globalized, promoting greater social inclusion and bridging the gap between information-rich and information-poor individuals, while also empowering individuals with knowledge of the functions of media and information systems and the conditions under which these functions are performed.

RESEARCH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

The main objective is to gather knowledge and provide helpful information to assist in decision-making and problem-solving. The aim is to preserve natural resources and the environment, reversing damage where possible. The focus is on combatting climate change, which is the greatest threat of our time, and working together to make a positive impact.

YOUTH, PEACE AND ICT

The Excellence Foundation for South Sudan aims to assist the South Sudanese government in implementing information and communication technology (ICT) and promoting peace and security services for youth. To support this theme, the foundation will develop projects and frameworks to improve online technology interoperability.

LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND REHABILITATION

Improved community livelihoods and poverty reduction among vulnerable populations through the provision of basic agricultural inputs and tools, as well as the formation of organised farmer groups for long-term and stronger economic transformation and development.
